For the second year in a row, the memorial event and concert You are Not Alone will be held at Riga's St. Peter's Church on September 11 at 6pm.


Its aim is to bring people together in Latvia and beyond in a prayer for one another and the difficulties we experience each day.

It does not matter how hard things get, we must remember the most important thing – a person is not alone in this world. God stands above everything, he is everywhere.

The parishes of Coventry Cathedral in the UK and the Church of the Highlands in the USA have been called upon to accompany the prayers.

All ambassadors and embassy representatives residing in Latvia are also kindly invited to participate in the event.


Part I 6pm – 6.30pm

Prayer.

A prayer for the victims of terrorism, war, natural and other disasters around the world in the 21st century and for their relatives.

The prayers will be led by pastors Atis Vaickovskis (St. Peter's Church), Sandis Ratnieks (Riga Cathedral), Edgars Mažis (Āgenskalns Baptist parish) and Andris Kravalis (St. Teresa parish).

Gregorian chants performed by the vocal group "Schola Cantorum Riga" (conductor Guntars Prānis) will accompany the prayers. J. Vitols Latvian Academy of Music Vocal Ensemble "Luar".



Part II 6.30 pm – 7.30pm

Concert.

The Gospel Choir of the Youth Center of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, pupils of the Gaisma Special Boarding School, the Youth and Children's Symphony Orchestra "Draugi", solist Gita Zvirgzdiņa and trumpeter Aivars Krūmiņš will all take part in the concert.

Entry to the event is by donation. The money collected will grant an opportunity to pupils from the Gaisma Special Boarding School to take part in a project at the Circus School in Germany.
