Located in Laidzes rural municipality of Talsi district, the social care centre "Stūrīši" provides the long-term social care and social rehabilitation of people with mental and physical disabilities. By paying a visit to the centre and giving a musical performance and lots of sweet treats, we wished to show our love for those who use the centre and express our gratitude to the staff for their selfless work in ensuring the wellbeing of the tenants.

This happened to be on Epiphany, an event which testifies to God's great love for us, mankind.

Right now "Stūrīši" is home to 80 people aged between 18 and 90. Many of them are not able to get around themselves, and 24 of them need to use wheelchairs.

The musical part featured an hour-long concert by Christian songwriter and singer Aelita Zirne whose performance also included compositions from her own album Es saku - Jā - Tavai Mīlestībai (I say Yes to Your Love). Urged to sing along, the tenants and staff members joyfully joined in performing the songs, giving encouragement to the listeners and expressing gratitude to God. The message of the concert also testified to the need to pay a little bit of attention to those around us and to say a good word of encouragement to make the day more cheerful.

Later we treated the participating tenants with sweets, a very special Napoleons cake, pastries and a Latvian pretzel from Mārtiņa Beķereja. The treat was so big that the tenants and staff would be able to enjoy it also in the following days.

When we were leaving, we gave prayer books and music records as a present.

We would like to express our special gratitude to the staff members for providing us with a stage, active participation and singing along together with the tenants of the social care centre.
